Alisson Becker Closing In On Juventus Move Despite Europa League Football
Juventus look set to pull off one of the summer’s most surprising goalkeeper moves, with Liverpool’s Alisson Becker reportedly close to joining the Bianconeri even if the club misses out on Champions League football.
The Deal
Multiple Italian outlets report that Alisson has already agreed personal terms with Juventus on a two-year deal worth around €7.5m per season, with an option for a third year. Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with a fee of roughly €15m seen as the likely breakthrough point.
Liverpool activated a 12-month extension in March to keep Alisson under contract until 2027, but the club is aware of Juventus’ interest and has been scouting replacements. Giorgi Mamardashvili is seen as the in-house successor, though Liverpool would prefer not to lose both Alisson and Mohamed Salah in the same window.
Juventus finished 6th in Serie A after a 2-0 loss to Fiorentina on the penultimate weekend, meaning they’ll head to the Europa League next season.
That hasn’t cooled Alisson’s interest. Sources close to the goalkeeper say he’s “prepared to move to Turin even if the Bianconeri play the Europa League”. His camp has made clear that Champions League qualification won’t change his mind.
Two factors explain it:
Reunion with Luciano Spalletti, who is now at Juventus, was Alisson’s manager at Roma. The Brazilian trusts the project and the role he’d play as a sweeper-keeper in Spalletti’s system.
At 33, Alisson wants a new challenge after 8 years at Anfield and having cemented a legacy with the Reds. Juventus’ allure remains strong with players regardless of European status, as CEO Damien Comolli noted.
Liverpool aren’t pushing Alisson out, but they won’t block him either if the fee is right. Arne Slot acknowledged the club makes decisions “with the club’s interests always at heart”.
Losing Alisson would be a blow given his leadership and experience, especially with Salah and Robertson also departing. But with Mamardashvili waiting and injuries limiting Alisson to 26 missed games this season, Liverpool are prepared for the transition.
Juventus are ready to accelerate talks after the final Serie A fixtures. If Liverpool agree a fee, Alisson could become Juventus’ marquee signing of the summer — a statement that even Europa League football won’t stop the Bianconeri attracting world-class players.
For Alisson, it’s a chance to return to Serie A, where he made his name at Roma, and to finish his career on his terms rather than fading out at Anfield.
