Barcelona opens a 14-point gap at the top

Barcelona made the trip to El Sadar and came away with a huge three points, putting themselves in a great position to potentially wrap up the La Liga title — especially with a blockbuster clash against rivals Real Madrid looming.
This wasn’t a straightforward win, though. Barcelona had to dig deep, showing plenty of patience before edging Osasuna 2-1. The scoreline might look tight, but the real drama didn’t kick in until the final ten minutes, leaving the home fans gutted and the visitors buzzing.
The first half was all about “what could’ve been.” Robert Lewandowski nearly got things going early, firing just wide, while Dani Olmo kept pulling the strings and trying to unlock a stubborn Osasuna defence. To their credit, Osasuna weren’t just sitting back. Ante Budimir caused a few scares, and it took some last-ditch defending—like Javi Galán’s goal-line header—and a sharp save from Sergio Herrera to keep things level at 0-0 going into the break.
After halftime, Barcelona came out with much more intent, dominating possession and pinning Osasuna back. But despite controlling the game, they couldn’t find that finishing touch. Missing key wingers didn’t help, and Dani Olmo will probably be replaying that point-blank miss in his head for a while. Osasuna nearly made them pay too, but Joan García pulled off a brilliant save to keep things scoreless.
Just when it looked like Barcelona might be heading for a frustrating draw, they finally broke through in the 80th minute. Marcus Rashford, coming off the bench, whipped in a perfect cross for Lewandowski, who did what he does best—rising high and powering a header into the net.
From there, Barcelona took control. A few minutes later, Ferran Torres added a second with a tidy finish, seemingly putting the game out of reach. But Osasuna weren’t done yet. Raúl García popped up unmarked to head one back, setting up a tense finale.
In the end, Barcelona held on, and that late goal from Osasuna turned out to be nothing more than a consolation. It’s another tough result for the hosts, who’ve now managed just two wins in their last nine games.
As for Barcelona, these three points are massive. They now sit 14 points clear at the top, and honestly, it’s starting to feel like the title race is all but wrapped up.
