Amorim Targets Sporting CP Reunion as Milan Chase Trincao & Hjulmand
AC Milan’s new boss Ruben Amorim is wasting no time making his mark at the San Siro. According to reports from _The Mirror_, the Portuguese tactician has identified two familiar faces from his Sporting CP days as priority targets for the summer window: winger Francisco Trincao and midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
Amorim only recently took charge at Milan, but he’s already leaning on connections built during his successful spell in Lisbon. Having managed both Trincao and Hjulmand at Sporting, the 40-year-old coach holds a clear advantage in convincing the duo to make the switch to Serie A.
That inside knowledge could be crucial in negotiations, with Amorim fully aware of their mentality, work rate, and tactical fit for his system.
The report suggests Hjulmand, the Denmark international who captained Sporting last season, could be available for around €40M. His leadership qualities and ability to dictate tempo from deep midfield make him exactly the profile Milan need to replace the aging options in their pivot.

Trincao is a different story. The Portuguese winger has a €60M release clause in his contract, which means Milan would have to meet that figure in full if Sporting refuse to negotiate. Trincao’s left foot, cutting inside from the right, and creativity in tight spaces made him one of the Liga Portugal’s most dangerous attackers last season.
A double deal would cost Milan approximately €100M total. That’s a massive outlay, but it also shows Amorim’s intent. He wants players he trusts, players who already understand his 3-4-3 system and high-intensity pressing. If Milan back him, Trincao and Hjulmand could form the core of a new-look Rossoneri project built around Amorim’s Sporting blueprint.
AC Milan do need rebuilding as the squad depth is shaky and the playing style of the club has been diluted and that the last season the team was just playing so the season would just end in the second half of the season after back to back toback losses in Serie A dropping them to play Europa league this coming season.
The question now is whether Milan’s hierarchy are willing to sanction such spending in one window. If they do, it will be a good move and Amorim will have to deliver results because he will be granted his transfers but with players to be sold like rapheal Léao, don’t be surprised to see more Sporting faces follow.
